Our concert will focus on music from the World War II Era including Hollywood influential tunes, instrumental operatic selections, music representative of rebuilding after WWII, ragtime, swing, and patriotic unique to the time. The performance will feature the unique talents of the students and faculty of the GMU Tuba Euphonium and Percussion Ensembles as they take the audience on a musical journey of the different musical styles during the war.
We invite attendees to come and learn about the different music genres of the greatest generation!

The George Mason University Tuba and Euphonium Ensemble has been in existence for over 16 years. It draws from a diversified student population of music majors, music minors, and non-majors. They have performed at six regional conferences, and seven international conferences as well as appearances on and off the local GMU campus and have become known as a nationally recognized group by the International Tuba Euphonium Association. The group remains as front runner of the low brass department for recruiting students to enjoy and play chamber music and is led by GMU Adjunct Professors Dr. David Porter, Tuba and Dr. Mark Jenkins, Euphonium.
The George Mason University Percussion Ensemble performs repertoire from the entire history of Percussion writing, from Varese to the present day. They have performed at PASIC (Percussive Arts Society International Conference) and across the state of Virginia. Regular Concerts are held in Fall and Spring on the Fairfax Campus. They are led by GMU Adjunct Professors Jon Bisesi, John Spirtas, and co-led by Dr. Kanako Chikami.
