Lin-Manuel Miranda’s award-winning Broadway production "Hamilton," based on Ron Chernow's biography, was the impetus to the 2019 exhibit "Founding Frenemies." In this traveling rendition from the Virginia Museum of History and Culture, visitors will learn about Alexander Hamilton’s service as General George Washington’s right-hand man, his leadership at the Battle of Yorktown, his partnership with James Madison in writing the Federalist Papers, his impact as Secretary of the Treasury, and his infamous battles with Thomas Jefferson. The exhibit takes visitors from 1776—Washington discovers Hamilton; 1781 the World turned upside down; 1790-Financing a New Nation through 1804-the Duel; Burr and Hamilton.
